Module 6 - Video Presentation

This video is the final project for EDUC 8842 - Principles of Distance Education that requries a video presentation of introducing a keynote speaker at a professional distance education conference.  I introduce Dr. Michael Barbour, a leading expert in K-12 Distance Education and Online Learning Content as if he was going to be a keynote speaker at ISTE 2013 in San Antonio, even though he is not presenting there.

  1. Hi LeAnn,
You did an excellent job blending still images with video. You also made the research base clear, and the focus stayed on the speaker's work. I am curious--what tool you used to put the video together?

  2. Hi Martha,
Thank you for responding to my video and your kind words. I used Adobe Premiere Elements 11 to put the video together. It is a wonderful tool for video editing. I upgraded the version 8 I had to version 11 and received Photoshop Elements 11 for the educator/student discount of $119. I think it is definitely worth the price for both. Thank you again.
    Sincerely,
    LeAnn

    1. Hi LeAnn,
Is that program compatible for both Mac and PC? I may consider the investment if is is Mac compatible. Thanks!

  3. LeAnn,
I enjoyed your video and saw that you did a great job with editing the video clips and putting them together. I use Schoology for my LMS so it was nice to see that you included that in the presentation. You also did a grat job with recording teh presentation that a teacher was presetning. I never used Adopbe Premiere Elements but will try it out. I am always looking for new programs to try out and I like how your final presentation looked. Nice job!

  5. LeAnn,
You did an excellent job on your video presentation. Being an elementary level teacher, I enjoyed the clips that showed young children using technology in a blended environment. When we had our synchronous discussion yesterday, you mentioned that you coordinated professional development for your school district. Have you conducted professional development on Edmodo in elementary settings? If so, what ways are they using that technology? I have been wanted to implement Edmodo in my classroom, but I'm having a difficult time planning learning activities appropriate for 3rd grade.

The editing on your video was very smooth. I felt there were breaks in the sound on my video. I am going to look into Photoshop for future projects.

Thank you for setting up the Skype meeting yesterday. I think having a real-time conversation with you and Shar was very beneficial for me. I wish we had done it more as I think we could have helped each other more along the way! I look forward to working with you again next quarter!

    1. Hi Sarita,

Thank you for your kind words about my presentation. In regards to my job, I am working with three teams of 4th and 5th grade elementary teachers from three different schools right now to incorporate Edmodo into the classroom environment, along with four secondary teams of teachers, as well. The students, parents, and teachers love it! The teachers have found many resources are already available to enhance the Common Core State Standards in their lessons. The students are more engaged in their learning, very little paper and copy machine use, and the parents are involved.

You are welcome about setting up the Skype call yesterday. I agree we should have had synchronous discussions throughout the course. Thank you again.

      Sincerely,
      LeAnn

  6. Hi LeAnn,

I especially like how you introduced the speaker with a little bit of his background and also show samples of what's available for k-12 LMS. Your transitions from segment to segment are very professional. You do speak very quickly but the visuals help in addressing the idea you are presenting.

Will you be at ISTE this year? Every year I get iste-envy and hope to go some year.

    Cheers - Shar!

    1. Hi Allison,
Thank you for your kind words about my video. I used Adobe Premiere Elements to import my video clips into making the video. I have used this program before and like the quality it provides, allowing voice overlay narration and easy importing of video, slides, and images, along with its ease of use. Thank you again!
      Sincerely,
      LeAnn
